Modi to connect with people through radio

Modi promised to speak to people through the radio at least once a month. “Radio is such a simple medium,” Modi said. “I can reach even remote areas from wherever I am.” The message itself, like the medium, was a throwback to the past. Titled Man ki baat (what’s on my mind), Modi asked people to take the pledge of cleanliness he had articulated on 2 October while launching his ambitious ‘Clean India’ movement. He also urged every family to buy at least one khadi garment. And he asked all Indians to work together for the country. “India’s strength is in the poor man’s cottage, India’s strength is in the villages and India’s strength is in its mothers, sisters, youth and farmers. This country will progress with your trust. I express trust. I trust your strength and therefore I trust the future of India,” Modi said in his speech, broadcast over all channels of All India Radio (AIR).

“We have to recognize ourselves, understand our powers and our strength…there is no deficiency in our strength, we have only forgotten it. My dear brothers and sisters, you cannot be disheartened,” Modi said, adding that the country “was not of the government alone” but of its citizens.
